The upcoming flu season in the US and the rest of the northern hemisphere is creating a filling of uncertainty, while the current H1N1 virus is continuing to cause illness, hospitalizations and deaths during the usually flu-free summer period.
According to ancient healing philosophy, No other forms of protection is greater than your own immune system.
Boost Your Immune System
So at times like this it will be extremely beneficial for you to take strong herbs and nutrients to boost your immune system and reduce the risk of being infected. I have prepared a strong herbal formula for those of my clients who feel that they need the immune support to get through the upcoming winter season and this vulnerable time. This immune stimulating herbal formula was used by Chinese doctors to boost people’s immune system for many centuries.
If you are not sure whether you need extra support , I encourage you to contact your Hemaview (live blood analysis) practitioner to count your white cells and inform you about their current activity. You can then make an informed decision.
Medical History
I highly recommend you to take immune booster if you have a medical history of immune insufficiency. This means that you used to get regular cold and flu or throat and lung infection in winter or you normally pick up bugs that is going around or you have been medically confirmed to have low white cell count.
If you do have children who go to school and day care centres, please make sure they take immune herb every day. Children are the primary concerns because they are the best medium to spread germs. There are even special formulas for kids which tastes great.
A doctor treats disease, but a Wise doctor builds health from inside to prevent disease.
Tips
Here are a few tips to minimise the risk of infection this winter:
- Expose to sunlight as much as you can (wear a hat to protect your head and face)
- Wear warm cloth even when it is not that cold. Keep your body temperature higher rather than lower
- Drink warm water throughout the day. Do not drink icy cold water
- Do not allow yourself to be constipated. Do whatever you can to keep the bowel regular
- Ensure adequate amount of sleep
- Wash your hands before eating. Do not suck sauce off your fingers
- Avoid touching metal surface. The Swine Flu virus can live on metal surface for up to two days
- As soon as you feel that you have aches and pains all over the body and you feel exhausted or started to experience hot and cold sensation, call your natural practitioner or your doctor immediately.
Take greater care of yourself!

Asthma does not only afflict children these days. In fact, more adults are now affected by this breathing disorder. Asthma is a lung disease that tightens the air passages making it difficult for you to breathe. Asthma is a chronic condition that comes and goes depending on what triggers an attack for you. It requires proper and continuous management because its symptoms make it difficult for anyone to function well. While some children eventually outgrow asthma, those who have never suffered from asthma during their childhood may suddenly experience its symptoms as adults.

Signs and Symptoms
Most asthma attacks display the following symptoms:
- Constant cough, which seems to get worse at night
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty in breathing
- Wheezing or whistling sound while breathing out
Tips to Boost Your Immune System

Some people find that as they get older they become more susceptible to upper respiratory infections. Many of these illnesses begin as viral infections, which prescription medications have been unable to combat.
The symptoms that bring patients to their health professional include sore throat, dry cough, fatigue and aches and pains in the joints and muscles. These patients’ immune systems have become compromised.
Wei Qi
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the first defense mechanism is a protective “Wei Qi” energy that circulates on the body’s surface. The strength of the Wei Qi energy determines whether pathogens are able to penetrate to deeper levels and cause disease.
In this case, one of the top ways to boost the immune system is by regularly stimulating certain acupuncture points in order to strengthen Wei Qi and, as a consequence, the immune system. A TCM practitioner will spend time strengthening the Wei Qi so that energy can expel the infection from the system.
Methods
To boost our immune systems, it’s wise to look at TCM and incorporate its methods:
Keep The Flu Away
When the immune system is weakened by late nights, overwork, stress, poor diet or fatigue, the symptoms and signs of influenza can appear. A poor lifestyle can lead to all sorts of health issues, all because the immune system has been compromised.
When our immune system is weak, we become more susceptible to all kinds of infections. Symptoms like fever, runny nose, sore throat, general aches and pains, dry eyes and mouth and headache all tell us that something is very wrong. Colds and flu are the body’s attempt at fighting off infections.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) divides flu into two types: Hot and cold.
The symptoms of the cold type include chills, fever, congestion, headache, dripping nose and aching limbs. Because the pathogens have not yet penetrated to a deep level, this type of flue is easier to control. Treated in the early stages, a single acupuncture treatment with moxibustion or cupping can be all that’s required.
Drinking ginger tea is ideal because it warms the body and expels the cold quickly. It is an excellent preventative preparation. Another effective drink is known as “Jungle Juice” – finely chop two cloves of garlic and 2 thin slices of ginger and combine them with the juice of half a lemon, a teaspoon of honey and a dash of cayenne pepper. Cover this preparation with boiling water to make one cup, allow it to stand for 20 minutes and drink while still warm. Dress warmly and away from draughts.
